The torre del hierro in Denia is a historical monument that was built with the aim of protecting the city of Denia from pirate attacks in the sixteenth century.
In addition to being a monument full of history, the iron tower of Denia is located in the foothills of the protected natural park of Montgó. The setting is beautiful and the way to get there is quite short.
The Denia Iron Tower is a type of tower that was built from Alicante to Denia for the maximum surveillance of the coast. The iron tower in Denia was part of a great mechanism to protect the coasts from pirates.
To access the Denia iron tower you have to go to Las Rotas, a coastal area south of Denia known for its rocky coves and the numerous beaches that border it as the Punta Negra. Once at the Mena restaurant, look for places to park but be careful not to park anywhere, the number of places is very limited and it is forbidden to park in closed residences. You will have to go through the milky way street, next to the restaurant to go to the Denia iron tower that will take about 20 minutes to arrive.
From the road and from the iron tower, you can observe the cape of San Antonio and have an impressive view of the sea, as well as the city of Denia.
You can reach the Dénia iron tower coming directly from the center of Denia on foot or by bicycle. This walk starts from the beach of the Marineta Casiana and takes you through many rocky coves and beaches of Denia. The hike is about 5 km and will obviously be shorter by bike. Remember to take water with you because the heat is intense in summer.
If you are ever discouraged by the idea of going to the iron tower by car due to parking problems, or on foot and by bike then you still have the Denia bus that stops at the mena restaurant. This is the L1 line that departs from the esplanade Cervantes Denia and that takes about 15 minutes to reach the broken. This bus leaves every two hours from 8 a.m.!
Finally, we advise you to take advantage of the many beaches a few minutes walk from the Mena restaurant if you go to the Denia iron tower. To cool off or relax, these beaches are absolutely indispensable to see.
And of course, the restaurant opens its doors to you if you’re ever hungry!
